SSB Loses A Beloved Bank Director and Longtime Employee

It is with a heavy heart that Security State Bank announces the passing of longtime employee and SSB Director, Buck B. Newsom.  Buck was born on October 6, 1951 and passed away on June 8, 2019.  He began his employment with SSB in 1978 in the Operations Department and worked his way up to being a Loan Officer.  In 1994, Buck was added to SSB’s Board of Directors and later retired in December of 2017 as an Executive Vice-President.  Buck was loved by his bank family as well as his customers and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Services will be held at 10am on June 13, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church located at 507 East San Antonio Street, Pearsall, TX.  Funeral Arrangements are being made through Hurley’s Funeral Home in Pearsall, TX.

SSB Participates at Medina Valley High School Career Fair

On Thursday, May 23rd, Carrie Schutze & Mary Mangold, both of the Castroville Branch, set up a table at Medina Valley High School’s Annual Career Fair and discussed various banking careers with their High School students!  They had brochures on hand that contained  background information about the banking industry and listed different jobs that are available.  They also discussed different degrees that the students could pursue in order to find a job in banking! It was a fun afternoon and they got to visit with numerous students who were very interested in banking careers!

SSB Honors National Police Week

May 12th – 18th is National Police Week and to show their appreciation to the local police department, the Pleasanton Branch dropped off some goodies at the Police Station!  May 15th is also recognized at Peace Officer Memorial Day so all of the Pleasanton Branch employees wore blue to show their respect for all fallen officers!  These were just a few small ways that SSB used to show just how much Law Enforcement means to them!  Pictured Left to Right are: James Salinas, Two Pleasanton Law Enforcement Agents, Kara Luna and RB Hurley.

SSB Sponsors Annual Castroville Event

On Friday, May 3rd, Security State Bank was a Silver Sponsor for the Annual Beer & Wine Festival held at Serendipity in Castroville!  Pictured here are (Left to Right,) Mary Mangold, VP & Carrie Schutze, AVP, both from our Castroville Branch who were among the many people in attendance.  Even through the rain, patrons stuck around for the great food and live music! There was also a silent auction with lots of great prizes and all proceeds benefited the Castroville Chamber of Commerce!

Pleasanton Eagles Baseball Wins Bi-District Title

Congratulations to the Pleasanton Eagle Baseball team on their victory over the Hondo Owls, to earn themselves the title of Bi-District Champions!  They are now heading to the Area Playoff game and will meet up against the winner of the Hildalgo versus Ingleside series.  Good Luck Eagles!!

Panther Softball Head to Regional Quarter Finals

Congratulations to the Medina Valley Panther Softball Team on earning the Area Championship Title on May 2nd by defeating Lockhart!  They will be heading to the Regional Quarterfinals game next and will be up against the winner of the Edison versus Seguin series that is currently being played.  Good Luck Panthers!!

Mustang Baseball Faces Goliad For Bi-District Title

Congratulations to the Natalia Mustang Baseball team for earning a spot in the playoffs!  They will face off against the Goliad Tigers for the Bi-District Title on May 2nd in Jourdanton!  Good Luck Mustangs!!

Jourdanton Indian Baseball Secures District Title

Congratulations to the Jourdanton Indians Baseball team on capturing the Title of District Champions!  Next up, they will face Aransas Pass in a best of 3 series to determine who will become the Bi-District Champion and continue their playoff journey!  Good Luck Indians!!

Lady Maverick Softball Earns Bi-District Title for the 3rd Consecutive Year

Congratulations to the Pearsall Lady Maverick Softball Team on earning the Bi-District Champion Title for the 3rd consecutive year!  These ladies will now face Rio Hondo for the Area Title, in a three game series that will be played in Alice.  Number 18, Olivia Garza, daughter of Candie Garza of our Main Office, is a proud member of this playoff team!   Good Luck Lady Mavericks!!

Devine Warhorse Baseball Earns a Playoff Spot

Congratulations to the Devine Warhorse Baseball team on securing themselves a spot in the playoffs!  They will compete for the Bi-District Title in a 3 game series versus Navarro beginning May 2nd.  Joey Seguin, son of Amanda Curiel of our Devine Branch, is a proud member of this playoff team!  Good Luck Warhorses!!
