SSB Donates To Local Food Banks

Many residents of Frio, Atascosa and Medina Counties are struggling with providing the basic necessity of food for themselves and their families. Fortunately, there are nonprofit organizations in the three counties that operate food pantries that help provide food for primarily lower income families. These nonprofit organizations are comprised of mostly unpaid volunteers and the organizations rely on donations of foodstuffs and monetary donations to keep the shelves stocked and the lights on.  SSB recognizes the needs of lower income residents living within the communities where SSB has locations, and SSB supports the mission of the food pantries.  SSB has made a monetary donation in the total amount of $15,000.00 in 2022 to the food pantries in Frio, Atascosa, and Medina Counties, in the following manner:

  • $5,000.00 to the Pearsall Shed which is affiliated with the San Antonio Food Bank and serves Pearsall, Dilley, and the unincorporated areas Frio County.
  • $5,000.00 to Bountiful Blessings, which serves Pleasanton, Jourdanton, Poteet, and the unincorporated areas of Atascosa County.
  • $2,500.00 to the Devine Food Pantry, which primarily serves Devine, Natalia, and southern Medina County.
  • $2,500.00 to the Medina County Food Pantry, which primarily serves Castroville, Hondo, D’Hanis, and the northern portion of Medina County.

SSB Joins Up With Local Bank For A Good Cause

On May 5, 2021, Castroville State Bank held a blood drive for the Castroville Community.  With the recent blood shortage due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, CSB reached out to see if Security State Bank would be interested in supporting the blood drive to help make it a success. So several SSB employees from the Castroville Branch decided to donate and do their part.  Pictured here from Left to Right are: Mary Mangold, Kortni Mangold, Carla Muennink, Carrie Schutze, and Lennie Hernandez.

The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center has been making giving from the heart their mission for the past 45 years.  The gift of blood can make a difference in the lives of cancer and transplant patients, trauma victims, newborns and moms, COVID-19 patients, and so many others!  Each donation has the potential to save three lives!

SSB Supports Local Stock Show Kids

Did you know that Security State Bank is a proud supporter of several area stock shows?  This year the bank was a buyer for kids in Frio, McMullen, Atascosa, Medina and Bexar Counties!  These kids work hard on their projects each year and when they make the sale, the funds earned generally go towards their future projects or to college savings, so the bank is honored to reward them for their efforts!

Pictured here are some of our employees kids who placed at different county shows.  Pictured left is Caleb Maxwell, son of David Maxwell, Executive VP of our Main Office, who placed 3rd & 7th with each of his market goats at the Medina County Stock Show, pictured top right is Sophia Garza, daughter of Candie Garza of our Main Office, who earned 2nd & 3rd place with her pigs and 5th place with her commercial heifer at the Frio County Stock Show, and pictured bottom right is Joseph Brown, son of Jackie Brown, VP of our Pleasanton Branch, who earned a 6th place ribbon with his Cross pig at the Atascosa County Stock Show.
